Inter-tidal

Inter-tidalInter-tidal areas are among very diverse marine ecosystems. They are most vulnerable for coastal development, pollution as well as exploited by large number of coastal communities for food and recreation. Thus to understand status of inter-tidal ecosystems and its biodiversity, extensive surveys are underway in Coastal Maharashtra. The work aims to map the ongoing and proposed coastal project and try to identify vulnerable areas. Assessment of rocky shores along Rajapur and Ratnagiri district is completed. Assessment of rest of the ecosystems is underway.
